Rose, Black Cottage, Marlborough, 2018
Perfectly poised with fresh herbs, liquorice and marzipan aromas, overlaying nuances of orange blossom and white peach. The zesty palate exudes fleshy tamarillo and watermelon with touches of spice, delivering a briny fresh, clean and dry finish.
WINEMAKERS NOTES
Black Cottage Rosé was inspired by founder, Dave Clouston’s long stint in Corsica and the South of France where he crafted fresh, crisp, dry, salmon pink rosé wines. Here in Marlborough the warm, dry summer lead to an early harvest with pristine fruit, small berries, and great concentration. Predominantly from Pinot and treated as a white wine in the cellar, this rosé had the added benefit of 8 weeks on light yeast lees, increasing the texture and mineral notes.
